Livingston shines at the 2010 Mayor's Cup
Breaks Icahn Stadium Record
April 10, 2010-Junior Strymar Livingston started off his 2010 outdoor season in fashion when he took to the lighting fast track at Icahn Stadium for the 2010 Mayor's Cup.  He started off his stellar day by opening up with the 800m run cruising to a easy victory at 1:54.35 to not only set a new meet record but also to break the Icahn Stadium record formally held by Sean Haplin of Iona Prep.  Livingston who is the reigning national champion in the 800m event then took tot he track to blow out the field in the 400m dash by running 48.80 to edge out Daniel Simon of Boys and Girls by four tenths.

In other action on the boys side consisted of Tyquan Dukes of Erasmus Hall  and Vincent Asante of MLK both breaking the 11 second barrier in the 100m dash running 10.82 and 10.91 with Dukes taking the gold and the meet record in the event.  In the 200m dash we also say two athletes break a time barrier by John Thomas of Sheepshead Bay running 21.49  and Andre Jordan of Medgar Evers running 22.72 both also surpassing the meet records.  Other highlights for the boys was the 4 X 100m relay team of Medgar Evers who set the meet record by running 42.68.  Joining the meet record breakers was also Rolyce Boston of Sheepshead Bay who Long Jumped 22'9.50" for the win.  All the above athletes will be back at Icahn Stadium this coming Friday and Saturday for the 2010 edition of the New York Relays.
Medgar Evers take 4 X 100 and 4 X 400
April 10, 2010-Medgar Evers girls came to Icahn on a mission and walked out with two sets of gold medals  Both sprint relays were both convincingly won by Cougars as they blew out the competition.  They started off their pursuit by taking the 4 X 100m final by crushingthe Mary Louis Academy by 5 seconds.  They then took tot he track for the last event of the day with the team of Rachel Leeke, Julissa Lecky, Nyanka Moise, and Keyana Hunte to take the 4 X 400m Relays running 3:53.33 over Campus Magnet by a whopping 14 seconds.

For some distance running action there was a incredible race in the girls 3000m run which early on became a 3 person pursuit between Samantha Lauro of Villa, Emily De La Bruyere of Brearly, and Mynneya Columbus of Port Richmond.  For the first 2200m of the race all three girls worked off of each other while pushing the pace.  With 600m to go Columbus dropped off the winning pace leaving Lauro and De La Bruyere to battle out the bell lap with Lauro pulling away with a final surge to take the win by over 4 seconds running 10:38.47 to take the gold and another meet record on the day. Shanique DaSilva of Bishop Ford took the girls 1500m run with a time of 4:50.26.

Other notable performances on the girls portion of the meet included the duo from Benjamin Cardoza running 1-2 in the 200m dash both surpassing the meet record with Chamique Francis taking the gold at 24.23 and team mate Ahtyana Johnson taking the silver at 24.32. One last meet record of the day was by Imani Oliver of Midwood HS jumping 38'7.75" to take the Triple Jump crown.
